Floating timber planks and laminate flooring are commonly used on commercial and residential properties. These are ideal for all types of settings and can be installed in any room on your property. They are low-maintenance and durable flooring solutions that look good and add value to your property. However, these materials are vulnerable to water; and plumbing leaks or flooding can cause them to become damaged.
If there is any water flooding on your property or severe leaks from appliances such as dishwashers, washing machines etc. it becomes crucial to address the problem without delay. Allowing this excess water to sit on the floor for extended periods of time can result in warped or stained and discoloured flooring; the water can also impact the top coat polyurethane and damage the lower layers.
Fast Timber Drying is crucial to prevent damage to your expensive floors. Wood flooring gets damaged because it swells and buckles as it becomes wet. Only specialised equipment like the one we use helps dry out these areas quickly and effectively. This is a highly specialised job and the water has to be removed quickly while the drying process has to be completed in a steadier manner. If the wood flooring is dried too rapidly with high heat that can potentially cause the planks to crack. If the work is completed too slowly, that can cause cupping and warping in the planks.
The timber drying work process we follow
- Our technicians will identify the source of the leak or flooding
- They will then dry the floor thoroughly using specialised wet-dry vacuum machines
- We take extra care while drying timber floors as water becomes trapped in between the sub-floor and the planks and this compounds the problem.
- If we notice any mould or mildew on the flooring or adjacent walls, we will first identify all the areas where this growth is; clean that up and treat the surfaces properly.
- In case stains and discolouration are noticed due to water accumulation or flooding, light pressure tools will be used to buff the top coat of the wood. Mild cleansing solutions will be used, all the moisture content will be removed and the final Timber Drying treatment will be carried out efficiently and promptly.
- If the water damage has been caused by sewage water, we will use specific formulations to clean up these stains and all the affected boards will be cleaned and treated.
- If we find that some of the boards have been affected beyond restoration, you will be informed about it and these affected would have to be replaced.
